UT Arlington Jazz Alumni Concert Oct. 18

The Fifth Annual University of Texas at Arlington Jazz Alumni Concert, a scholarship fund-raising event for UT Arlington jazz program students, is slated for 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the Irons Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Building.

Professor Emeritus Bill Snodgrass will conduct a big band composed of UT Arlington jazz program alumni now living in Houston, Austin, Oklahoma, Illinois and Missouri.  The concert will feature alumnus Ken Edwards, UT Arlington adjunct trumpet professor, who has performed with renowned trumpeter Maynard Ferguson and appears on the last recording Ferguson produced.  The UT Arlington Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Tim Ishii, also will perform.

In the past three years, this event has raised more than $15,000 in support of scholarships. While there is no admission charge, a donation in any amount may be made to the UT Arlington Jazz program. A reception will follow the concert.
