The Art and Art History Department will open its 3rd annual Summer Graduate Exhibition on Thursday, May 27, in The Gallery at UTA. The exhibition, which features the work of 16 Masters of Fine Arts students, will run through Aug. 31.
Marty Walker of Marty Walker Gallery in Dallas was invited to curate the exhibition. The work represents the graduate program in Intermedia Studio, Glass, Visual Communication and Film and Video.
“[The work] represents a varied investigation of material, mood, memory, and human experience as it relates to self-awareness and perception,” Walker wrote in her juror’s statement. “While the pieces included are diverse in approach and execution, collectively they confront issues of identity as defined conceptually through personal experience and expressed through each artist’s respective area of study.”
An opening reception will take place Thursday from 5-7 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
Exhibition artists include: Jesse Barnett, Shannon Brunskill, Ben Dolezal, Caleb Dulock, Justin Ginsberg, Lawrence Gise, Kate Helmes, Rebecca Hirsbrunner, Julie Holleman, Collin Hover, Deepa Koshaley, Thomas Lumpkin, Michael Mazurek, Janet Morrow, Patty Newton, and Soyla Santos.
