A short film by Ya’Ke Smith, Assistant Professor of Art, continues to garner accolades and attention from around the country.
“Katrina’s Son,” a story of a young boy displaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, won Audience Choice and Best Cinematography awards last week at the D.C. Shorts Film Festival in Washington, D.C. And earlier this week, the film was named Best Narrative Short at the BET/Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City.
Smith’s film will be among those screened Sunday night, the final night of Dallas Videofest. The screening will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Angelika Theatre in Dallas.
