Art’s Keens Views the Past Through Glass Work

Artist David Keens chooses glass for his message because it’s the only medium that does what he needs it to do.

“It allows me to do things you just can’t do otherwise,” said Keens, Professor of Art and the guest artist featured in the Visual Arts Society of Texas’ 2011 Gala and January exhibition.

“The way glass transmits color, transparency, opacity — all of those things — glass does those things the way no painting medium does,” said Keens, who directs the university’s glass program.
