Morris to Lecture on Environmental Issues in U.S. History

Dr. Chris Morris, Associate Professor of History, will be among several UT Arlington faculty participating in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies lecture series.

The series, which is set for 9:30 a.m. Thursdays in Trimble Hall (Room 115), is sponsored by  the University Sustainability Committee and the School of Urban and Public Affairs. The weekly lectures began last Thursday and will run through Feb. 17.

Morris will present his lecture “Back to the Future: Environmental History and Present-Day Environmental Problems” next Thursday. Morris is scheduled to review specific examples from U.S. history, including an in-depth look at the 1849 flooding of New Orleans and how it presents practical solutions to the problems facing the city today.

Other speakers include faculty from Biology, Chemisty and Biochemistry, Civil Engineering and the School of Urban and Public Affairs. For more information, contact Jeff Howard at howardj@uta.edu.
