UTA Radio will call this week’s National Wheelchair Basketball Championship Tournament live from Texas Hall. The broadcast will also be televised on UTA Channel 99.
The Department of Communication, which operates Channel 99, currently carries live, local programming in the form of UTA News. Thursday’s Movin’ Mavs game against Southwest Minnesota State will mark the first time a live, televised sports event has been generated outside of the Fine Arts building at UTA.
“It’s time,” says Broadcast Sequence Coordinator Dr. Andrew Clark. “The technology has evolved to a point where we are now able to stream live broadcast-quality content to the television side through the campus computer network.”
Additional broadcast students have been recruited to operate cameras and other video equipment.
If the Movin’ Mavs win their first-round game, the team will advance to Friday’s semi-final. The championship game will be held Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
