Symphony Orchestra Concert Tops Musical Week

The first concert of the fall season by the UTA Symphony Orchestra highlights a musical week that includes a guest brass artists recital and the Solomons faculty piano recital.

All events are at 7:30 p.m. in Irons Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Building.

The festivities begin Wednesday with guest brass artists Mark Houghton, principal horn of the Fort Worth Symphony, and Joe Sellsmanberger, former tubist with the Memphis Symphony. Admission is free.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Clifton Evans, performs Thursday, Sept. 22. The concert features music by Schumann, Beethoven, and Glazunov, and a saxophone solo by Tim Ishii of the music faculty. Admission is $5.

John Solomons, associate professor of music, performs in a piano recital Friday, Sept. 23. Admission is free.
