UTA Radio will help recruit and spread the word about this year’s College Radio Day after being named CRD’s state headquarters for Texas.
CRD began last year with the goal of raising awareness of the many college and high school radio stations that operate around the world by encouraging people who would not normally listen to college radio to do so for one day. According to the CRD website,“It is hoped that those people who do tune in like what they hear and become regular listeners. The organizers of College Radio Day believe that college radio is one of the last remaining bastions of creative radio programming, free from the constrictions of having to be commercially viable, and a place where those involved in its programming believe passionately in its mission.”
Currently, 16 college stations in Texas are part of this year’s event. All are encouraged to engage in special programming and events to promote the day and the station. UTA Radio will help recruit stations to add to the growing movement and also schedule its own special event.
College Radio Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012.
