It may be summer, but the Department of Theatre Arts is still active, hosting next week a production of David Mamet’s classic, “Glengarry Glenn Ross.”
The play, directed by senior lecturer and playwright-in-residence Dr. Natalie Gaupp, will run June 28-30 at the Studio Theatre in the University’s Fine Arts Building. The cast includes Theatre Arts students Gregory Alan Cooke, Robert Bell, and J.N. Weber; alumni Steven A. McGaw, David Wilson Brown and Jackie Pickard; and faculty member Professor Andrew Christopher Gaupp. It s produced by Spare Room Productions and SceneShop.
The 1984 Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning play focuses on a group of salesmen trying to offload worthless property. Due to the adult nature of the dialogue, children will not be permitted to the shows, officials said.
Performances begin at 8 p.m. each night and tickets are $5, cash only, no reservations. Proceeds from the shows will benefit the Theatre Arts student scholarship fund. For more information call the Theatre Arts Box Office at (817) 272-2669.
Department officials have also been busy planning the 2012-2013 season and have posted the scheduled online. The new season will include “Ah, Wilderness” in October and the award-winning musical “Fiddler on the Roof” in February.
