Part comedy, part homage to celebrated playwright William Shakespeare, “Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)” runs April 4-7 in the UT Arlington Studio Theatre.

Written by Ann-Marie McDonald, “Desdemona” explores the story of Constance Ledbelly, a young English literature professor who suddenly finds herself in the imaginary world of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, interacting with characters such as Romeo, Juliet, Desdemona and Othello. Associate Professor Joe Chapa (Theatre Arts) serves as director of the Maverick Theatre Company production.

The production features performances from sophomore Katherine Weekley, junior Travis Fant, sophomore Samantha Fields, junior Joshua Cummins, freshman Rachel Glass and junior Brendon James Bradley. Theatre Arts junior Tiffany Cromwell serves as stage manager.

Due to language and content, production officials recommend the play for adult audiences only.

Performances for “Desdemona” are scheduled for 8 p.m. April 4- 6 and 2:30 p.m. April 7. Tickets are $10 for general public, and $7 for senior citizens, students and UTA faculty and staff. The UT Arlington Studio Theatre is located in the Fine Arts Building, North Section, Room 137, at 700 Greek Row Dr. in Arlington.

For tickets/reservations, group rates, or further information, please contact the UTA Department of Theatre Arts Box Office at (817) 272-2669.
