Dr. Sarah Frisof, Assistant Professor of Music (Flute), is one of three contestants representing the United States at the 8th Kobe International Flute Competition in Japan.
She performed Thursday in the first round of the competition. The contest runs through April 7.
Frisof, who is one of 55 flutists competing in the event, said she is excited about returning to the world-renown event. In 2009, she finished as a semifinalist in the 7th Kobe competition.
“This competition is basically the flute Olympics, so it attracts the best young flutists from Europe, Asia, North America and around the world,” she said. “I hope to perform to the best of my ability, and I look forward to being inspired by the diversity and musicianship of the other contestants as well as the jury. I am excited to be back.”
