CAAS Conference Considers ‘Critical Issues’

The Center for African American Studies will host an inaugural conference next week, profiling progressive research and program development on the diverse conditions of African Americans.

The two-day conference, “Critical Issues in Black Studies: Race in Context,” will be held May 2-3 in the Rosebud Theatre of the E.H. Hereford University Center.

Keynote speakers are Derek Watkins (AKA “Fonzworth Bentley”) and Dr. Ivory Toldson. Watkins is an actor, singer, record producer, TV host, and fashion designer. Toldson is an associate professor at Howard University, senior research analyst for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Negro Education.

The programs are free, but registration is requested. See the CAAS conference schedule for more details.
