The Department of Linguistics and TESOL will host the 20th annual Austronesian Formal Linguistics Association (AFLA) conference on May 17-19 at The University of Texas at Arlington.
All lectures and presentations will be held in Pickard Hall, Room 110. Invited speakers include Sandra Chung (University of California-Santa Cruz), Eric Potsdam (University of Florida) and Norvin Richards (MIT). Each will present a keynote presentation during the three-day conference.

The event is sponsored by the Festival of Ideas Global Research Institute.
AFLA began in 1994, a small group of linguists met at the University of Toronto to create an organization that promotes the study of Austronesian languages from a formal perspective. More information about the group is available in its website, westernlinguistics.ca/afla.
