The College of Liberal Arts invites applications from tenured faculty in the College of Liberal Arts for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, effective June 1, 2014.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. or other terminal degree is required. The Associate Dean will be a tenured faculty member (associate or full professor) with a strong record of academic achievement. Experience in academic administration is preferred, including budget management, personnel management, and strategic planning. Applicants must also demonstrate the potential to engage in effective fundraising and community outreach.
Duties: The Associate Dean’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:
• faculty development (tenure and promotion, faculty review, research and creative activity support, and teaching awards)
• curriculum development and approval processes
• enrollment management
• distance education programs
• public relations
• student affairs
• development efforts
• special projects
This position supervises the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, the Director of Communications and one support staff position in the office of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The Associate Dean serves as the college representative on the Vice President for Research’s Advisory Council, the University Research Committee, the Committee on Undergraduate Curricula and other bodies.
