Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price (’72) will be the keynote speaker for Communication Day 2014, the Department of Communication’s annual student event Oct. 22.
Price, who earned her bachelor’s degree from UT Arlington, will join other distinguished alumni and industry leaders to discuss the impact of communication skills in today’s job market.
“Comm Day is an opportunity for students to explore the rich and diverse field of communication, including advertising, broadcast, communication studies, communication technology, journalism and public relations,” said Associate Professor Andrew Clark, chair of the event. “Alumni roundtables will allow current students to interact with departmental alum who are now working in the Communication industry.”
Clark said Price was invited to speak because of her commitment to reorganizing the City of Fort Worth’s communication strategy since she was elected in 2011.
The theme of this year’s Comm Day is “Destination Success.” Students will have the opportunity to attend three workshops in the morning session and visit with several regional organizations seeking interns. Communication majors will also be offered a headshot booth, resume critiques and image consultation.
The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in E.H. Hereford University Center’s Bluebonnet Ballroom.
