Earlier this week, students in Lecturer Melanie Mason’s Communication Studies class introduced a new website for educations and theatre professionals.
The Reader’s Theatre Room is an open source community for leaders seeking to add theatrical performance elements into educational curriculums or programs. Mason and her students researched the learning needs for each grade level, then built the site with specialized material and lesson plans. The website also offers users a chance to leave feedback and collaborate on future materials.
“We want our website not only to be a place for educators and artists to quickly find resources, but also as a point of connection to those who are actively using and creatively implementing this amazing way to share literature” said Mason. “Building an online learning network of like-minded individuals is, we think, an important undertaking.”
Mason and her team collaborated with Associate Professor Dennis Maher (Theatre Arts) and April Sanders (Spring Hill College).
