CRCJ Kicks Off Fall With Lecture Week

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice is starting the fall semester with a week of activities for majors and those interested in becoming a major.

On Monday, Sept. 14, Professor and Department Chair Kent Kerley will host a pizza luncheon at noon in University Hall, Room 115. He and other CRCJ faculty members will discuss changes within the department and new research opportunities for undergraduates.

Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 15-17, the department will host invited speakers from the Texas Juvenile Department, Criminal District Court No. 3 and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, respectively. All meetings will be at noon and in UH 115. The department has also organized a special group ticket package for students and faculty to the Texas Rangers game Friday, Sept. 18.

Throughout the week, CRCJ officials will also host several DFW police departments in the first floor of University Hall, allowing students a chance to ask questions about hiring practices, policies and career opportunities. The participating departments include:

  • Monday: Arlington Police Department
  • Tuesday: Fort Worth Police Department
  • Wednesday: Dallas Police Department
  • Thursday: UTA Police Department
  • Friday: Grand Prairie Police Department
