Almost 500 participants, including UTA volunteers, families and children gathered at the Maverick Activity Center for El Dia del Nino.
The event, built out of a partnership between UTA Modern Languages and Arlington Public Library, celebrated childhood and literacy for the entire family. It is a multicultural celebration of children, families, and reading that culminates every year on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. It was extraordinary to offer this event at UTA for the second time.
Children’s book author Roseanne Greenfield Thong hosted a writing workshop for children in grades 3-5, and a presentation for children and parents of all ages.
